About Us

Granary Foods is owned and run by Christine and Andrew Wallach. Christine was a full time mother for 27 years, bringing up the couple's seven children in a strict religious group where home-cooking was de rigueur. Indeed her reputation depended upon her skills as a hostess.

When the couple escaped (this is another story) they used their skills and the recipes they had used in their former life, to set up Granary Foods. Andrew had been involved in the family business up until their life changing experiences, and with his knowledge of the business end of a new enterprise and Christine's skills as a cook, they bring to you the traditional, healthy meals handed down through their family for you to enjoy when you feel the need of an invisible hostess. Wherever possible, they use locally produced ingredients. butter from Wensleydale Creamery, flour from the local mill and fresh local fruit and vegetables, ensuring that your food is healthy as well as delicious.

Christine is a dedicated foodie and enjoys producing enticing meals, but she is also writing a book about their escape and is frequently asked to speak at functions large and small about her rebirth at fifty and subsequent successful entry into the daunting world of entrepreneurial enterprise. She is about to go back to part-time study to secure a degree so that she will be prepared for the growth of their business into a national franchise operation, a move they are planning to achieve within three years.
